What are the differences between high-flexibility PVC drag chain cables, PUR drag chain cables and TPE drag chain cables?

2025-09-28 09:46:21

At present, the outer sheath materials of high-flexibility cables on the market are generally made of PVC, PUR, TPE and other materials. Therefore, we respectively call these types of flexible cables: PVC flexible cables, PUR flexible cables and TPE flexible cables.

For the above three types of flexible cables, a question that many friends have is: Which one is better among PVC flexible cables, PUR flexible cables and TPE flexible cables?

We, Jiusan Flexible Cable, believe that no matter what kind of high-flexibility cable material it is, there is no such thing as which one is good or bad. Since these three types of flexible cables are the most common in the market, they naturally have their own characteristics and selling points, as well as their own advantages and disadvantages. We often say, "Don't buy the expensive ones, but the right ones!" Isn't that so? When we are choosing certain components, we only select the products that are more suitable for us, rather than blindly choosing only the expensive ones.

In order to help everyone purchase high-flexibility drag chain cables that meet their expectations, Jiusan Cable would like to briefly introduce the advantages, disadvantages and characteristics of the three types of flexible cables: PVC flexible cables, PUR flexible cables and TPE flexible cables.

PVC flexible cables are high-flexibility PVC sheathed cables used in drag chain systems. They feature a special high-flexibility PVC outer sheath, which is moderately resistant to oil and coolant. They can be used in humid environments but not outdoors.

PUR flexible cable is a highly flexible PUR sheathed cable used in drag chain systems. It uses PUR as the outer sheath, which is tear-resistant and wear-resistant, and has excellent oil resistance, hydrolysis resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance. It can be used in humid environments and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. It has excellent weather resistance and can withstand low temperatures up to -30℃. Moreover, the mechanical properties of PUR flexible cables are much better than those of PVC flexible cables. PUR flexible cables are wear-resistant, have high mechanical strength, good load-bearing capacity, and outstanding impact resistance and shock absorption performance. Moreover, the weather resistance of PUR flexible cables is much better than that of PVC flexible cables: they are oil-resistant, low-temperature resistant, and water-resistant (polyether type). In terms of toughness and elasticity: PUR is an elastic body between PVC and rubber, so its toughness and elasticity are also better than those of PVC flexible cables.

TPE flexible cable is a type of flexible cable that is superior to PUR flexible cable in terms of weather resistance, ozone resistance, UV resistance and operating temperature range. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and can fully come into contact with plants, animals or synthetic organic lipids, oils, paraffin and related latex liquids. It has good resistance to ammonia compounds and biogas, and can resist cold water, hot water and water-soluble cleaning agents. It can withstand a low temperature of -40℃ and is completely oil-resistant!
